As lighting designers, we help define the architectural environment and provide the often subliminal triggers which enhance how people interact with the space or items within the space. AE Design brought home the award for its lighting controls strategies applied to its work for the Crocs Headquarters in Broomfield, Colorado, a project designed and led by Venture Architecture. The Crocs corporate facility envisioned equipped and flexible spaces, ingress for natural light, and living walls to help bring the outdoors inside — all while enabling the company to work toward net-zero objectives. Our design team seamlessly fuses engineering with architecture and synchronizes lighting, technology, and electrical throughout the space. From elegant and simple, to technical and complex projects, we collaborate closely with architecture firms, owners, developers, contractors, structural and civil engineers as well as mechanical firms, which complement the end-to-end, holistic services we provide. Further establishing AE Design as a leader in the industry, the firm was also awarded five Brilliance Awards at the award ceremony that took place on September 23, 2022.

A great team starts with great people.

AE Design Brings Home Six Awards

This project consists of the renovation of approximately 3,290 square feet of office space for a new dermatology clinic. This project consists of approximately 5,000 square feet of renovations for an infusion services floor, which includes chemotherapy and medical oncology care. Under the leadership of Avigail Eisenstadt, a graduate of New York School of Interior Design, AE Design Group assures that each project reaches the highest standard of design in any chosen style.

Jon and Jeff began to see lighting as the bridge between creativity and engineering – the perfect specialty within their degrees. Drawing upon their education in this field, they built a solid foundation to enter a world in which architects and their teams bring architecture to life. Over 370,000 professional visitors attend the fair each year, just under 70 per cent of them from 188 other countries, along with more than 5,000 national and international journalists and around 27,500 members of the public at the weekend. Designed by emerging Saudi architects Abdulqader Alsuwaidan, Nawaf Alghamdi, Hayat Almousa and Lama Dardas, Iwan draws its design inspiration from the Islamic Iwan and abstracted shapes of the Muqarnas, a form of decorative vaulting in Islamic architecture.

Through experience, training and creativity AE Design Group provides innovative and unique design solutions. Our comprehensive package of design services includes initial consultation, space planning, interior design, procurement, and implementation. Many years ago, two aspiring architectural engineers, Jon Brooks and Jeff Mullikin, enrolled in the Architectural Engineering program at the University of Colorado, eager to learn more about buildings and the process of transforming them from a vision to a reality. Jon and Jeff went on to learn about structural, civil, and mechanical engineering, architecture, construction management, and the nuances of electrical engineering. However, it wasn’t until they took their first lighting design class, that they fully realized their passion for all things electrical.

This project was complete with six exam rooms, one procedure room, a phototherapy room, waiting room, reception desk, medical assistant stations, offices, clean and dirty utility rooms, charting areas, break room, and new staff and patient toilet rooms. The Inpatient Oncology Pavilion is provided with 20 inpatient rooms, a nursing station, patient and family concierge, conference area, and staff respite suite. Additionally, families wishing to remain with their loved one are provided with overnight accommodations in one of two bedroom suites provided in the renovation. Finally, the renovation includes a comfort and healing lounge that serves as a sanctuary where programs like music and art therapy can occur.

With dedicated project designers and design leadership with over 40 years of combined experience, you are in expert hands at AEDG. Based in Southington, CT, our architecture firm works with a wide range of sectors, including healthcare, research laboratories, commercial properties, and more. Originally an empty office suite, this renovation demolished 100 percent of the walls, doors and other items within the existing suite to provide the optimum layout for the new dermatology clinic requirements.

So, by bringing together designers from diverse backgrounds and nationalities, including the Middle East and Far East, Isola Design Festival hoped to inspire an approach that transcended borders and traditional ways of seeing design. Through a collaborative design process, we create technology design solutions that meet the client's current and future needs. We design technology systems such as wired and wireless data networks, telecommunications cabling, and electronic safety/security systems that integrate with each other and the other complex building systems in a facility. A 3-D printed version of the original Iwan installation (constructed entirely from aluminum sheets) was also showcased along with Routes to Roots in the Milan Galleria Giovanni Bonelli, located in the heart of Isola quarter, next to Porta Garibaldi train station in Milan. Both Routes to Roots and Iwan highlighted an eco-conscious approach to design integrating biomaterials, natural resources, household and industrial waste and seamlessly blend traditional methods with innovation to craft modern design pieces.

The AE Design team incorporated Lutron Vive wireless controls with BACnet capabilities allowing the facility to monitor its energy usage and control the wide variety of luminaires and linear light sources in a more granular fashion. The controls also support daylight harvesting functions, enabled via skylights and roll-up doors, as well as localized color tuning and dimming. This perspective has been the keystone of AE Design’s success throughout the years and is passed along to all employees, clients and partners from the moment they engage with the firm. Naturally, Jon and Jeff kicked off their professional careers at the same firm after graduating college.

The integrated and collaborative approach we take means we can take the vision, help guide design decisions, and give options to make it a reality. At the end of the design work, we provide the details and direction to make the electrical systems work in the building, which includes branch circuiting, lighting, controls, and more. We drive proactive collaboration, promote a focus on responsible design, provide a people-centric culture grounded in innovative expertise and deliver a high-touch service for each project. Our firm-wide hunger to constantly learn and evolve shines through on each project to ensure we make our clients’ lives easier. By highlighting the simplistic and natural elements of design, we incorporated lighting style, specialty lighting controls, interior and exterior architectural elements. To move towards the future, it believes designers must embrace experimentation and collaboration across all fields and disciplines, seek innovative solutions, and keep in mind that design should collectively impact the planet and humanity.

We imagine a better environment and strive to create architecture and interiors that achieve that goal. Swift's first single from the album "Fortnight", a collaboration with Post Malone, topped the UK singles chart. It strives to embody the floral essence in Bechara’s work, symbolising beauty in diversity and the artistic collaboration has resulted in a fusion of fine art and floristry.

House explosion rocks Virginia neighborhood as police try to serve search warrant

house blew up

A woman was airlifted to a trauma center after her Victorville home exploded early Wednesday, officials said. Neighbor Craig Erickson said the force of the blast blew open the door of a home and sent debris into nearby yards. He ran outside to check on neighbors as his girlfriend called the fire department. Neighbors told fire investigators that they could hear the sound of a hissing gas main after the explosion in the block of Cochise Drive (map). "While watching this I saw smoke coming up a couple of houses down from behind it, so I rode over there on my bicycle and a shed in back was engulfed in flames," he said. Images from the scene showed a large picture window blown out of the home, with debris scattered across the front lawn and smoke pouring from the structure.

Its downtown core offers thriving art, music, and theater scenes. Also, Vancouver has become a foodie heaven with its vast selection of worldly cuisine. However, if you are flying in the night before and need immediate sleep, stay in Richmond at Fairmont Vancouver Airport.

From there take the escalator up and guests will be able to exit out into the city. Upon pulling into the Vancouver cruise port I was immediately impressed by the layout and beauty of this port and terminal. The Vancouver cruise terminal is located right in the city, literally one step away from the very center of the city. Additionally, you may even see your cruise ship docked in front of you. To access the cruise terminal, you need to follow the ramp’s sidewalk into the parking area. Shuttles run between the airport and cruise terminal by WestCoast Sightseeing in conjunction with Gray Line buses.

The Vancouver Convention Centre East is located in the same facility. I particularly enjoyed exploring around the area of the Seawall Water Walk. This area was really pretty and offered the unique chance to watch sea planes take off and land. I would recommend stopping by this area at some point during your visit!

Limousine companies that refuse to adhere to this process will not be given access to the terminal and will need to meet their pre-arranged cruise guests at street level. Gray Line Westcoast Sightseeing is located at the ground transportation desk at the Canada Place cruise terminal. When you board in Vancouver, you will go through US Customs and Border protection at the port, and not have to do it again. Every ship that leaves Vancouver, either goes to Alaska, Hawaii, or down the coast to California. So the US border control has set up a screening area at the Vancouver cruise terminal. For season 2019 (March 29 through November 1), the number of handled ship calls was 288 (+22% over 2018), with estimated 1,077 million passengers.

Eateries, both classic and modern, dot the district, offering a tempting choice of culinary delights. Nestled less than a 15-minute drive from the port of Vancouver, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park invites you to immerse yourself in the lush embrace of a rainforest paradise. This iconic swinging bridge, 450-foot (137-meter) high, sways gently among the treetops, providing an unforgettable experience of nature’s grandeur. The adventure begins with a Skyride aerial tram ride that takes you higher, providing breathtaking views of Vancouver’s cityscape, the Pacific Ocean, and the surrounding mountains. It’s a feast for the eyes that sets the mood for the rest of the trip.

Cooler temperatures accompany the coming of autumn, and spring is especially pleasant. It is usually mild and a bit wet during winter, but cruises are usually cheaper, with fewer crowds. While there is currently no Wi-Fi at the Vancouver cruise terminal, the food court at the adjacent Waterfront Centre mall does offer free wireless internet access. For the pickup locations for rideshare apps, head to the Arrivals level and follow signs to the Ground Transportation area. When you exit the terminal, cross the street to the Ride-App pickup zone.

There are several options available for getting from the Vancouver International Airport to the Vancouver cruise terminal, both public and private transportation. There is a surprising number of cruise lines that sail out of the Vancouver Cruise Terminal. Of the 28 cruise companies currently using Vancouver cruise port, many are small luxury ships or expedition vessels offering exclusive Alaska cruise experiences for small groups. Some cruise ships only call in occasionally as part of their global cruise itinerary, such as The World Residences at Sea private cruise ship. The Vancouver cruise terminal is connected to the city’s convention center, and at the end of the port is the city.

Vancouver is the largest city on the west coast of Canada in the province of British Columbia. Additionally, its cruise terminal at Canada Place, in the heart of Vancouver, ferries passengers to Alaska, Hawaii, Japan, and California. In 2010, the port was visited by around 600,000 cruise ship tourists. Since then, Canada Place is city's only remaining cruise ship terminal. The kiosk is located at the ground transportation desk within the cruise terminal.

However, if there are three to four vessels, expect a slow embarkation as all guests must go through the same immigration and customs line. California, Japan, and Hawaii repositioning cruises are scheduled when cruise ships are coming to and from Vancouver for the Alaska season. Most cruise passengers going to Alaska sail from Vancouver or Seattle. If you are sailing in or out of the Vancouver cruise port, it’s best to add a few extra days. Consequently, you can enjoy all this fantastic city has to offer.

The largest cruise ship ever to dock in Vancouver Port was the Norwegian Bliss. The arrival required carefully planning due to the low clearance of the Lions Gate Bridge. Ships of this height can only access the port at low tide when a First Narrows Traffic Control Zone operates.

The project included the extension of Seaspan's water lot by 130 ft/40 m and the addition of two new drydocks (smaller) plus a floating pontoon, located to the west of the old drydocks. As the number and sizes of cruise liners to Vancouver constantly increase, the port is more and more often ranked as congested. The average passenger capacity of the vessels increased by 138% (up to 3100 pax) and the average LOA length increased by 50%, (up to 300 m / 985 ft). However, Canada Place Terminal's capacity is limited as the facility was built for older design ships. Gastown is a historical gem located in the heart of Vancouver, less than a 15-minute walk from the port. A leisurely stroll around this charming neighborhood reveals a tapestry of captivating experiences.

However, if you’re in one of the last groups to leave the ship, you could be waiting a while for a taxi or rideshare due to availability. So, if you have an early flight, opt for early debarkation or do self-debarkation instead. If you disembark within the first 30 minutes, you can usually get a taxi or rideshare quite quickly. In North Vancouver, the Capilano Suspension Bridge is a tourist favorite. You can access the park by a complimentary shuttle bus from downtown. You can also use the shuttle to reach Grouse Mountain further up Capilano Road.

Where is the Vancouver Cruise Terminal?

Short-term baggage services are provided at Vancouver cruise terminal by WestCoast sightseeing. It is ideal for those who plan to take a shore excursion or explore the city independently before heading to the airport for their flight home. Vancouver Harbour covers 16,000 hectares of water, 1000 hectares of land and 350km of shoreline. The three-berth cruise terminal can actually handle up to four cruise ships simultaneously.

As you step onto the bridge, you’re instantly transported into a world of towering evergreens, moss-draped branches, and the gentle murmur of a pristine river below. With each step, you walk among the giants of the forest, discovering the intricate ecosystem that thrives in this enchanting environment. The seawall provides an excellent setting for engaging with the natural beauty of the coast, whether you’re taking a leisurely stroll or cycling along the coastline.

It’s important to note that Vancouver is the most expensive city in Canada. Downtown hotels are as expensive as vacationing in Miami Beach or New York City. Since this is an expensive option and adds to the total cost of your cruise, you’ll want to avoid Vancouver cruise parking downtown. The following map shows the directions from Canada Place to the Waterfront Station. However, you can follow it from the Skytrain station to the cruise port. Leaving the airport, walk across the road and take the escalator to the right.

Not to mention the beautiful mountains in the distance that glisten with snowy peaks even in the spring time. Views coming into the city are stunning, and as the ship docked I became excited to explore the city! I highly recommend taking the time to snap a few pictures and appreciate the views coming into port at Vancouver during your cruise. There are quite a few first class hotels that are within four or five blocks, within walking distance, or a short inexpensive taxi ride away from the cruise docks. Downtown Vancouver is quite compact so you will not be far from thecruise ship terminal. Some hotels are located within easy walking distance, other properties are located a short cab ride away.

Bergen has a wealth of tourist attractions that you must visit during your stay. The top attractions include the Bergen Fish Market, Mount Fløyen, Hanseatic Museum, Edvard Grieg Museum, and Bergenhus Fortress. Don’t miss the chance to wander around the Bergenhus medieval fortress. It’s one of the oldest buildings in Norway and its right at the entrance of Bergen Harbour. Over the years it’s been used to house royalty, hold church services and as a military fortress. There are so many things to do and see in Bergen that it’s hard to condense them down into one article.

The site provides guided tours, and visitors can explore the historic structures and learn about the fortress’s significance. This stone-built, 13th-century fortress proudly lies on the eastern shore of the Vågen harbor, only a 5-minute walk from Bergen cruise port (Skolten and Bontelabo berths). However, if you want to experience the Northern Lights, you can visit Bergen from September to March. Bergen has several Michelin-starred restaurants that serve world-class cuisine. The city’s most popular restaurants include Lysverket, Cornelius Seafood Restaurant, and Colonialen.

Most residents are patient and helpful to a fault, and tourists are almost always made to feel welcome. With great dining, art, historical and natural assets, and decent shopping, Bergen has something for everyone. Keep in mind, however, that Norway residents are paid high wages, and the cost of living is high as a result, which means visitors might be in for some sticker shock. These typical churches from the 11th and 12th century mark a very unusual and intriguing time in history for Norway. Just outside of Bergen there is replica of a stave church you can visit.

Bergen and the West Coast of Norway experienced a significant influx of cruise tourists last year, and the trend continues this year as well. Norway is moving gradually toward being a cash-free society, so debit and credit cards are commonly accepted here, unlike some other parts of Europe. ATMs in Norway are called “mini banks,” so look out for that if you’re looking for a place to withdraw a little cash or check your balance. Don’t worry about tipping your taxi driver or restaurant server, as the tip is usually already included in a service charge on your bill. When you pay with a credit card in Norway, there will usually be a blank line for leaving a tip if you wish to tip additionally. The trendy Marg & Bein has decadent mains like white fish and mussels in a cream sauce or braised ox and potatoes cooked in duck fat.

Find out underneath what it is you can see and do in the Bergen Cruise Port Guide. It is important to note that the berth reservation criteria is independent of the environmental performance reporting request for departing cruise ships. While exploring fjords on a half-day trip from Bergen is challenging due to the distance and time constraints, there are shorter fjord experiences that you can consider. The most famous fjord near Bergen is the Nærøyfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is part of the larger Sognefjord system. While the complete round trip from Bergen usually takes a full day, you can opt for a partial tour that focuses on the Nærøyfjord section. As of 2016, ships docking in Jekteviken/Dokken areas will have the shuttle drop them off at the port gate with the 600m walk to the city center marked.
